RFK JR cancels $ 500 million in the development of mRNA vaccine in the United States

The United States Ministry of Health and Social Services (HHS) plans to cancel $ 500 million (376 million pounds Sterling) for funding for arnm vaccines during development to counter viruses such as flu and COVI-19.
This decision will have an impact on 22 projects led by major pharmaceutical companies, including Pfizer and Moderna, for vaccines against bird flu and other viruses, said HHS.
Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr, a skeptical vaccine, announced that he was doing the financing of the affirmations that “mRNA technology has more risks than the advantages for these respiratory viruses”.
Doctors and health experts have criticized Kennedy’s long -standing issue on the safety and effectiveness of vaccines and his opinions on health policies.
The development of mRNA vaccines to target Covid-19 was essential to help slow the pandemic and save millions of lives, said Peter Lurie, former head of Food and Drug Administration.
He told the BBC that the change was that the United States “turning his back on one of the most promising tools to fight the next pandemic”.
In a statement, Kennedy said that his team had “examined science, listened to the experts and acted”. “(T) the data show that these vaccines do not effectively protect themselves against higher respiratory infections such as core and flu,” he said.
He said the ministry was deploying funding to “safer and wider vaccine platforms that remain effective even if viruses mutate”.
Kennedy has also said that mRNA vaccines can help “encourage new changes and can actually prolong pandemics because the virus is constantly rolling out to escape the protective effects of the vaccine”.
Health experts have said that transferred viruses, that vaccines exist for them.
Dr. Paul Offer, director of the Vaccine Education Center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, noted that the influenza virus lies every year, that people are vaccinated, while the measles virus did not transfer, despite the majority of people vaccinated by a shot.
He said that mRNA vaccines are “remarkably safe” and a key to helping to prevent serious virus infections like COVVI-19.
HHS said that the department that manages vaccination projects, Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (Barda), would focus on “platforms with stronger security files and clinical data and transparent manufacturing practices”.
While some vaccines use an inactivated virus to trigger an immune response, mRNA vaccines work by teaching cells how to make proteins that can trigger an immune response. Moderna and Pfizer’s mRNA vaccines were tested in thousands of people before being deployed and were deemed safe and effective.
Dr. Offit, who invented the Rotavirus vaccine, said that cancellation of funding could put the United States in a “more dangerous” position to respond to any potential future pandemic. He noted that mRNA vaccines have a shorter development cycle, which is why they were crucial to respond to the Pandemic Covid-19.
Since its entry into office, Kennedy has taken a number of measures to transform how the country’s health service has developed and regulates vaccines.
In June, he dismissed the 17 members of a committee which issues official government recommendations on vaccinations, replacing them with some people who criticized the security and efficiency of vaccines.
He also withdrew the COVVI-19 vaccine from the vaccination calendar recommended by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention for healthy children and pregnant women.
