Rudy Giuliani injured in a car accident, says a security guard

The former mayor of New York, Rudy Giuliani, was injured in a car accident in the American state of New Hampshire, said his security agent.
Giuliani’s car was struck from behind at high speed during a trip to a highway, according to a press release published on social networks.
“He received a diagnosis of fractured thoracic vertebrae, multiple lacerations and bruises, as well as injuries to the left arm and the lower leg,” said the declaration of the security guard Michael Ragusa.
Giuliani, 81, became known as “American mayor” after managing New York until September 11. Later, he became an advisor, then Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, although the two have separated since.
Giuliani was taken to a neighboring hospital to be treated, said Ragusa.
The incident occurred shortly after Giuliani helped an alleged victim of domestic violence who reported on a road, added his statement.
“Mayor Giuliani immediately provided assistance and contacted 911.”
The BBC approached local police to comment.
The thoracic vertebrae form the central section of the spine, while lascerations and bruises are respectively cuts and deep bruises.
Mayor elected for the first time in 1993, Giuliani was in charge at the time of the September 11 attack against the World Trade Center in 2001.
In 2008, he made an unsuccessful race for the American president and later became one of Trump’s advisers during the latter’s 2016 campaign. He joined Trump’s personal legal team in 2018 and remained part of the 2020 elections.
In the aftermath of Joe Biden’s electoral victory in 2020 against Trump, Giuliani spread without foundation said that the elections were stolen.
Earlier this year, he concluded provisional regulations with two former electoral employees who won $ 148 million (120 million pounds sterling) in damages after having successfully pursued it for defamation on false electoral fraud complaints.
