The Rangers manager Russell Martin insists that his team “needed fans” after the Scottish club was beaten 3-1 at the forefront of their draw of the Champions League eliminators with the Brugge club in Ibrox.

“You cannot impact the key line. You put a game plan in place to try to win the game, but decision -making changes because we are so anxious.

“We were far too open, it was not the game plan. In the second half, we did not change much, but we were much more competitive and we had a threat. The players ran very hard for each other and I am proud of them for that.”
