Star Sydney’s Casino license suspension extended for an additional six months

The star of the Australian capital Sydney Casino saw its suspension of prolonged license for an additional six months.
The NSW Independent Casino Commission (NICC) has extended the suspension of the Casino Star Sydney license for six months, after a similar extension in March. This means that the suspension will be in place until March 31, 2026 at least 2026.
The NICC also confirmed in an open letter on September 25 that it would extend the duration of the director of the star, Nick Weeks, who will continue to monitor the operations of the casino. The chief commissioner of the NICC, Philip Crawford, said in the announcement that there was still too much uncertainty surrounding the star to consider restoring his Casino license at that time.
“The NICC judges appropriate to continue the current arrangement so that it can better assess the effectiveness of significant sanitation work and wait for the results of other urgent financial issues concerning the star,” said Crawford. “The NICC understands the many challenges that the star is confronted and closely monitors the progress of the star while it works to prove that it is able to find its Casino license.”
Star Sydney’s response to extended suspension
The casino has operated under surveillance since its license was suspended for the first time in October 2022, when the NICC judged that the company was not adapted to a Casino license. This occurs after the star Entertainment Group also faced serious financial obstacles.
