Stargate has its share of favorite characters from various movies and series, from Photos of SG-1 Samantha Carter and Jack O’Neil, Rodney McKay in Atlantis, Ronald Greer in Natureand honestly, countless others, but none quite like the titular Richard Woolsey, who went from being an annoying one-part character, to being a hero as a team leader. Played by Star Trek: Voyager’s Robert Picardo, fans have a different list to thank for bringing him into the franchise: Outer Limits. If it wasn’t for the sci-fi anthology shot so close Pictures of Stargate SG-1 Vancouver’s homegrown studio, Picardo couldn’t have had another installment of the popular sci-fi franchise.
Simultaneous Exposure of Series Lead

Outer Limitsa sci-fi version of The Twilight Zoneit first aired in 1963, but was revived in 1995 for a longer run, ending in 2002. Pictures of Stargate SG-1 shooting schedule is allowed Robert Picardo to make a quick trip to the studio while filming an episode of “Sarcophagus,” in which he plays a man looking for the financial benefits of a strange alien presence to justify infidelity. It’s also different from his role as Woolsey, who is very similar to his performance as The Doctor on Voyager.
Although The Doctor created a completely different character after several seasons of character development and many episodes discussing the ethics and rights of his existence as a hologram, if you had the first appearance of Richard Woolsey, you would never have thought that years later, Robert Picardo would return as the leader of the team Stargate: Atlantis journey. Woolsey was brought back several times during SG-1’s run to be, on purpose, a frustrating bump in the team’s lane and a recurring annoyance to viewers. As Picardo said in an interview with Gateworld in 2008, “he came across as a controversial figure.”
The Woolsey Revolution

The second appearance of Richard Woolsey, in “The Opening,” brought about a great change in character by adding a new dimension, as Robert Picardo himself explained. Stargate SG-1 The article, “began to rehabilitate Woolsey’s character by showing that he had good intentions and loved the importance of having and overseeing the common people in private affairs.” It was an important moment for the character and planted the seeds of how the character would grow, although surprisingly, throughout his appearance, he remained true to himself. It’s just the world that changed around him.
By the time Stargate: Atlantis was facing turmoil following Amanda Tapping’s decision to leave, there was a very short list of stars to bring to replace her, with Robert Picardo at the top, which was a moment of genius. From the superiors questioning the importance of the SG-1 program to a leader who understands that it is best to throw away the manual for the benefit of the men and women under his command. Woolsey who breaks multiple safety rules in “Seeds” is a far, far cry from his first appearance in “Heroes, Part 2,” and legions of Stargate fans wouldn’t have it any other way, and it’s all for a reason. Outer Limits and Stargate SG-1 all filmed in Vancouver.
