Syria: in Raqqa, the fear of the new episode of violence is in the professions

Syrian voters will select the members of its first post-Assad Parliament on Sunday October 5, in a criticized process, with a third of the members appointed by the acting leader Ahmed Al-Sharaa. The process should largely consolidate Sharaa’s power and raise more questions about how to unite the country after 13 years of civil war. According to the interim government of Damascus, northeast Syria has been widely excluded from the electoral process for security reasons. Negotiations are supposed to lead to the integration of this region dominated by the Kurds in the rest of Syria, but in the absence of significant progress, the confrontation continues. In Raqqa, the Kurdish authorities are preparing for any eventuality.
