Ten Hag hits Bayer Leverkusen after being dismissed two games in a new season

Erik Ten Hag described his dismissal from Bayer Leverkusen as “unprecedented” and said he was “never” given the confidence he needed after being dismissed only three games in his mandate.
The former boss of Manchester United has signed a two -year contract in summer to succeed Xabi Alonso, who left for Real Madrid.
But the management of Leverkusen decided to act quickly after a mixed start-a 4-0 DFB-Pokal victory, a defeat in 2-1 in the league against Hoffenheim and a 3-3 draw with Werder Bremen in which they returned an advance of two goals.
In a statement via his agency Seg Football, Ten Hag expressed his frustration to the decision: “Separate with a coach after only two championship games is unprecedented.
“A new coach deserves space to implement his vision, establish standards, shape the team and leave his mark on the style of play. Unfortunately, management was not willing to give me time and trust, which I deeply regret.”
Leverkusen has lost key players in summer – Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz left for Liverpool, while Captain Granit Xhaka joined Swander – leaving Ten Hag with the task of rebuilding.
The Dutchman had already been dismissed by Manchester United in October 2024, despite the victory of the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.
Ten Hag thanked the supporters of Leverkusen in his statement, but concluded: “I think it was never a relationship based on mutual trust. The clubs that have put their self -confidence rewarded by success and silverware. ”
