The administrator of Trump abandoned a third of all surveys on major technologies, say the defenders

Trump spoke a big match in the elections for the fight against Silicon Valley. But, since its entry into office, the former star of reality seems to have done much to do for this promise. In fact, a recent investigation of his actions claims that Trump, whose political victory has been partially propelled by the gobs of the money of technological companies and their leaders, abandoned a third of all surveys and measures responsible for the law against technological companies since taking power.
The report, published by the organization of public advocacy Citizen, notes that at the start of Trump’s second term, at least 104 technological companies faced with at least 142 federal surveys and application measures. In August, 47 of the law implementation measures against 45 of these technological companies “were withdrawn or interrupted (38 withdrawn, nine interrupted)”.
Companies that have had “a break” or “frozen” implementing measures since the start of the year include large companies like Meta, Paypal and Tesla. In many cases, application measures have also been dismissed or removed, especially against eminent cryptographic companies such as Coinbase, Crypto.com and Kraken. The cryptocurrency industry was, in particular, a great contributor to Trump’s campaign last year.
These same companies, whose leaders and investors have recently considered that the regulatory heat to extinguish the back has made significant financial contributions since the beginning of 2024, the majority of which has some $ 1.2 billion, according to the Tally Citizen’s Tally. Most of the contributions have been made to the GOP, and some of them went directly to Trump (either to their businesses or to its inauguration fund). The contributions were also paid by the leaders and investors of the companies.
Currency, the public citizen report includes an entire section on Elon Musk. Indeed, among the total political expenses mentioned in the report, almost half is attributable to musk. The report underlines that, among the leaders who attended the inauguration of Trump, Musk – who would direct the Trump’s Doge initiative and serve (for a certain time, at least) as the president’s “first boyfriend” – is the CEO “whose companies are confronted with the most federal federal actions.
Unfortunately for Musk, many of these cases remain in the air. The report notes that, in the midst of the ongoing spates between the billionaire of Tesla and the president, he continues to be “an uncertainty about what will happen from investigations and prosecution in terms of implementation against musk societies”.
Loss of interest in surveys on technological companies can be part of a broader trend in regulatory disinterest, because the report notes that the administration has “withdrawn or interrupted application measures against 165 companies of all types” this year, including the above -mentioned technological companies.
“This massive retirement of the categories of application and abolition of cases involving a business fault is something that I have never seen before,” said Rick Claypool, director of research at the office of the president of Citizen and the author of the report, at 404 Media. “Many of these abandoned cases are now from the first Trump administration. They were in my opinion, in my opinion, which pursued cryptographic scams.”
The report also conscientiously notes that “the existence of surveys and / or allegations of misconduct does not necessarily mean that laws have been raped, or that an action in application would necessarily have been brought under a different administration.” Gizmodo contacted the Trump administration to comment.
