Brighton continued their form at Manchester United with a deserved win at Old Trafford this afternoon.
On a day that saw United honor the memory of great Denis Law, who died on Friday, the Seagulls emerged victorious as Ruben Amorim’s concerns continued with another rare display from his side.
Yankuba Minteh put Brighton ahead and, despite Bruno Fernandes leading the charge, Kauro Mitoma and Georginio Rutter added second-half goals for Fabian Hurzeler’s side.

Shambolic Onana represents United’s problems
Rutter’s goal came after a poor mistake from United midfielder Andre Onana and summed up the hosts’ misery as they lost to Brighton for the eighth time in 16 Premier League meetings.
United went into the game with a lot of energy after Amad Diallo’s hat-trick saw them beat Southampton on Thursday night, but the season collapsed early on when Mitoma blasted Noussair Mazraoui and crossed for Minteh to slot home.
Fernandes had already gone close to scoring with a header that shone brightly before the Portugal international turned things around.
A loose pass from Brighton midfielder Bart Verbruggen was intercepted by Diallo, who was played in by Joshua Zirkzee who was reminded that the Dutchman was brought down by Carlos Baleba.
Fernandes sent Verbruggen the wrong way from 12 yards, curling it into the bottom left corner.
Brighton played heavily on the counter but it was a strategy that paid off and they nearly restored their lead shortly after.
Minteh picked out Dany Welbeck inside the area but the former United striker was denied a goal when he returned to Old Trafford with a smart block by defender Diogo Dalot.
The effort is disallowed by VAR
Brighton thought they would get one back eight minutes after the restart, Joao Pedro firing after United failed to clear Yasin Ayari’s free-kick only for the goal to be ruled out by VAR following fouls on Dalot and Jan Paul van Hecke.
They were not to be denied at the hour mark, however.
Minteh played the ball into the far post and Mitoma did enough to clear Mazraoui’s challenge and turn the ball over.
United went in search of another goal but Zirkzee’s shot, after a great run from Diallo, was blocked by Van Hecke.
It proved to be a crucial moment as Brighton went down the other end and ended the campaign with a third goal.
Onana thought he had extinguished the danger by stepping out to collect Ayari’s cross but, having claimed first, he cleared the ball and Rutter had the direct task of firing into an empty net.
Amorim threw in Antony, who is about to end his United woes on loan at Real Betis, and Rasmus Hojlund and it brought life back to United’s game.
Diallo forced Verbruggen into a narrow save as substitute Alejandro Garnacho fired in a well-placed shot.
Their efforts were to no avail, as Brighton went on to hand United a fourth win in seven games in all competitions.
The Seagulls are ninth, just four points off the Champions League, while United are 13th.
