The boring company would have stopped the tunnels in Las Vegas after an `overwhelming injury ”

The Elon Musk Tunneling Society, The Boring Company, temporarily interrupted work on one of the Society’s sites in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to a new makeshift report. The disturbance is linked to a “overwhelming injury” suffered by one of the site workers, according to the magazine, which spoke to local firefighters.
Emergency workers received a call around 10:12 p.m. local time on Wednesday evening on an “industrial / machinery incident”, according to Fortune. The employees of the Las Vegas work site told stakeholders that someone had “undergone an overwhelming injury,” according to Fortune, but more details have not been published. The Clark County Fire Service did not immediately return a telephone call on Thursday.
Fortune reports that an 18 -people rescue team used a crane to get the worker out of the tunnel. The worker was transported to a local hospital and would be stable, although the extent of their injuries is not clear at this stage.
The incident would have occurred in the tunnel which is extended to reach Las Vegas airport. The boring company first opened a tunnel which brings people along a 1.5 mile route to the Center Convention in 2021 and has made efforts to develop since. Musk’s original idea for a public transport system, known as LOOP, was first planned to transport 16 people in driver -free pods to more than 600 miles per hour.
But this plan was reduced for Las Vegas. Visitors are now traveling at slow speeds of only 35 miles per hour in ordinary Tesla vehicles that anyone can buy. They also have human drivers, far from the idea of autonomous rapid transit which was initially presented. Boring Company now has 3.5 miles of tunnels under Las Vegas and extends its operations in order to give birth to more people in a larger network under the city. The company obtained approvals up to 68 miles.
The boring company has already been cited for workers’ safety problems in Nevada, according to propublica, Bloomberg and Fortune surveys. The Las Vegas Convention and LVCVA) have adopted a more “practical” approach to security after injuries in 2024, according to Fortune. There have been at least eight quotes from the Nevada security and health administration, including “the collapse of a large concrete bac before the Las Vegas Convention Center”.
The boring company did not respond to an email on the incident on Thursday. Gizmodo will update this article when we hear.
