The California Senate Revises AB 831 to restrict the casinos of the online competition
The California Senate has modified Bill 831 of the Assembly (AB 831), a proposal which aims to close the online casinos in the state. Legislators have stressed that the bill is not intended to interfere with state lottery games or the type of competition promotions that appear from time to time.
The updated language clearly indicates: “(a) It is illegal for any person or entity to function, lead or offer an online competition game in this state.”
He also declares: “(b) It is illegal for any entity, financial institution, payment processor, geolocation supplier, provider of game content, platform supplier or media affiliate to knowingly and voluntarily or indirectly supporting the exploitation, driving or promotion of a set of online sachets within this state.”
Some Senate adjustments focused more on the wording than the substance. For example, the “games on the game theme” were reduced to “game”, “casino style table games” was simplified in “table games”, and the expression “and voluntarily” was added after “knowingly”.
The bill also explains that these rules will not interfere with legal gaming operations such as licensed casinos under the law on the control of games of chance or with the California Statelle.
He continues to clarify: “The bill would specify that these provisions do not make illegal game promotions or prints designed by for -profit commercial entities on a limited and occasional basis as an advertising and marketing tool which is accessory to sales in good faith of products or consumer games.”
