A group of 34 students in Gaza with places in British universities has been evacuated and must arrive in the United Kingdom in a few days.

This is the first time that the conflict has started that people have been helped to leave the band to study in the United Kingdom.

They are now in a third country in the region for visa biometric checks before completing their trip to the United Kingdom.

The 34 have fully funded scholarships and received support from the British government to leave Gaza.

The group, which includes at least four doctors, was helped to leave the band on Wednesday.

We expect them to be brought to the United Kingdom at the start of next week to occupy their university places.

One of the students who was evacuated told the BBC that they were tired but well. They described the last 48 hours as “very intense” and said it was “difficult” to leave family members and other students awaiting evacuation.

The group includes researchers as part of the Cheventing Stock Exchange, a program mainly funded by the government so that international students are studying one year’s master’s degree in the United Kingdom.

The evacuation follows campaign months by politicians, academics and others on behalf of more than 100 Palestinian students occupying offers from British universities this year.

It is not known when the next group of eligible students could be evacuated.

“We hope that the British government will support all eligible students to be evacuated and that we know at least 35 students with full scholarships who are still trapped in Gaza,” said Dr. Nora Parr, a researcher at the University of Birmingham who coordinated the efforts to support students, told the BBC.

She added: “We are concerned about students to the dependents. Four mothers and a father had to refuse their place on the evacuation of this week because they would not leave their children.”

The BBC approached the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to comment.

Earlier this week, a group of seriously sick children arrived in the United Kingdom from Gaza for specialized medical care of urgent NHS.

Israel launched an offensive on the major land on Gaza City on Tuesday.

On the same day, a commission of inquiry of the United Nations discovered that Israel had committed a genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel said that it had categorically rejected the report, denouncing it as “distorted and false”.

Israel launched his war in Gaza in response to an attack led by Hamas activists in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, during which around 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken hostage.

At least 65,141 people have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza since then, according to the Ministry of Health of the Territory.
