The German game regulator, Joint Gambling Authority of the States (GGL), published quarterly figures for participations and betting for the first time.

August was marked as starting the process of sharing quarterly publications, the authorized providers giving the figures to the regulator.

The objective of doing so is to ensure greater transparency on the legal market for games of chance and regularly inform public and political decision -makers about market development.

For the first quarter, total playing issues were 3.51 billion euros, with 2.18 billion euros in the sports betting category. 1.59 billion euros are classified under online bets, with 585 million euros in retail books. Then, up to 25 million euros were allocated to betting on horses.

GGL data show that Q2 game income dropped by 8.3%

Although these figures are raised, the second quarter experienced a drop of 8.3% compared to the first, because total playing and Paris revenues reached 3.22 billion euros.

In the second quarter, sports betting amounted to 1.89 billion euros, which represents a drop of 13.5% based on the previous quarter. The pace of the cabin, however, experienced a major increase of 28%because it increased to 32 million euros in the second quarter.

This is the first time that the GGL has published quarterly data, with more to come.

The latter decision comes after there was a change of presidency to the GGL board of directors in July. Sandro Kirchner, Secretary of State of the Interior Ministry of the Bavarian State, Sport and Integration, resumed the presidency and succeeded Reiner Moser, head of the office in the Ministry of the Interior, for digitization and municipalities for the Baden-Würtbert.

When the Secretary of State Kirchner was announced to take control of this role, the GGL was described as being in a phase of pursuit of ambitious objectives and stronger international networking, while aiming to contain the illegal game market more.

“The coherent pursuit of illegal offers and the protection of players is my highest priority. GGL work must continue to be considerably aligned with the objective that the illegal game model in Germany should not be worth it,” said Sandro Kirchner.
