The National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) announced its latest statistics, showing that a record of $ 43.9 billion was generated in raw play income during the 2024 fiscal year.

This is a record figure which reflects an increase of $ 2.0 billion compared to the year 2023, which represents a global growth of 4.6% in the Indian game industry.

“This year’s GGR reflects not only the resilience of the tribal game industry, but also the dedication of tribal leadership in the preservation and growth of this important economic engine for their communities,” said the acting president of NIGC, Sharon Avery, in the press release.

“The continuous success of the Indian Games testifies to the strong tribal governance and the solid regulations which protect the integrity of the industry.”

The figure was calculated from independent audited financial statements from 532 independent audited playing operations belonging to 243 tribes recognized by the federal government in 29 states.

The NIGC was created in 1988 with the adoption of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act and was “promulgated to support and promote tribal economic development, self -sufficiency and strong tribal governments thanks to the exploitation of the game on Indian lands”.

As for the specific locations that have experienced significant growth, there are two regions of the NIGC, Oklahoma City and Washington, DC, which reported two -digit growth during the previous year.

“These income figures demonstrate the positive impacts of the tribal game and the essential role it plays to support tribal sovereignty, employment growth, infrastructure, education and important social health, health and social protection programs in tribal communities – to name only a few,” Jeannie Hovland.

“The NIGC remains determined to work with tribes and their regulators to ensure long -term integrity and the success of Indian games.”

The agency uses raw play income as a key industry measure, defining it as the amount bet less the gains returned to players. This information is collected each year by the agency to assess trends and help guide the regulatory policy in support of the Indian Games Regulation Act.
