Denmark, founding member of NATO, added to increasing alarms concerning the threat of “hybrid war” in Russia while drone observations spread to more and more European airports and even military facilities.

Thursday, Munich Airport, Germany, anchored flights after several drone observations. On Friday, Belgium said that it was investigating drone observations above a military base near the German border. It was after Denmark also pointed out drones flying over its airports and the largest military base.

“I hope everyone recognizes now that there is a hybrid war, and one day it is Poland, the other day, it’s Denmark and next week, it will probably be elsewhere,” Danish Prime Minister said Frederiksen on Wednesday. “There is only one country … ready to threaten us, and it is Russia, and therefore, we need a very strong response in return.”

Denmark has not directly assigned recent drone incidents to Russia. But the remarks follow the incursions of the Russian drone in Poland as well as Russian fighter planes violating Estonian airspace, forcing NATO to intercept them.

The Russian ambassador to Denmark denied that Moscow was involved in drone flights, calling them “a provocation in scene” designed to trigger a military confrontation. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin joked about the situation when he asked him questions about sending drones to Europe: “I will stop, I will no longer send drones in France, Denmark, Copenhagen. Where did they flee? ”

The growing alarms of the hybrid war – operations in a gray area which does not stop at a full -fledged military attack – came while Europe continues to support Ukraine in its fight against the invasion of Russia and envisages means of using frozen Russian assets.

European officials also warned of other hybrid threats and the Moscow suspect was behind a series of incidents, including the sabotage of an underwater cable, cyber attacks, GPS jamming of civil aviation and even acts of criminal fire.

In July, the first diplomat of the European Union condemned what she called “the persistent hybrid campaigns of Russia” against the countries of the EU. In an interview with the Financial time,, Frederiksen from Denmark said on Tuesday that Russia’s hybrid war was “only the beginning”, adding that it meant “threatening us, dividing us, destabilizing us. To use drones one day, cyber attacks the next day, sabotage the third day. ”

Washington also takes a more difficult line because President Donald Trump lost patience with Moscow after his meeting with Putin in Alaska gave progress to a cease-fire. The United States will now provide Ukraine information for long-range missile strikes on Russia’s energy infrastructure, sources said Wall Street Journal.

In addition to Armer Ukraine, Europe rushes to invigorate its own military capacities in the threat and the drafting of Russia to Trump that NATO spends more in defense.

Frederiksen said on Wednesday said that Europe was “the most difficult and dangerous situation since the end of the Second World War”.

At the beginning of this year, the Danish Defense Intelligence Service assessed the risk of Russia once its Ukrainian war stops or freezes.

Russia could launch a local war against a neighboring country in the six months, a regional war in the balls in two years, and a large-scale attack against Europe within five years if the United States is not involved, according to a translation of the Politico report.

“Russia is likely to be more willing to use military force in a regional war against one or more European NATO countries if it perceives NATO as weakened militarily or politically divided”, depending on the evaluation, which was dated February 9. “This is particularly true if Russia assesses that the United States cannot or do not support European NATO countries in a war with Russia.”
