NY firefighters find games of chance

An investigation by the FDNY Bureau of Fire Prevention (BFP) on a complaint concerning the illegal Lithium-ion battery load led to the discovery of an alleged lair of play.

The fire service was on Elizabeth Street in Manhattan when they found `dangerous and illegal conditions”, including “game machines, counterfeit goods, dangerous living conditions and a dangerous battery charge”.

He had access to buildings that the FDNY fire protection inspectors discovered that the front and rear cellars of the two buildings had been converted to illegal sleeping areas.

Cellar’s corridors would also have been transformed into simple occupations which were “crowded with mattresses, clutter, hot places and radiators. None of the rooms also had secondary outings, the department calling the nature of the cellar as “Mazelike”.

The sleep areas that were found were considered risks of serious life due to the lack of secondary outing and heavy congestion.

“What our fire prevention members found on Tuesday was a disaster that is waiting to perform,” said FDNY commissioner Robert S. Tucker, in a press release.

“Illegal living conditions and the dangerous battery load can create deadly conditions for residents and for firefighters who meet emergencies. Each complaint on which we investigate has the potential to save lives, and this inspection was part of it. ”

It was then, by a more in -depth investigation on the property, than an alleged play salon with slot machines and a storage space filled with bags of counterfeit designers and accessories were found. Lithium-ion batteries were also said to have been found in the illegally converted cellar space.

“Because of the deadly conditions discovered, the FDNY asked the Ministry of Buildings (DOB) and the New York Police Department (NYPD) to answer,” the press release said.

“The DOB has issued a partial meeting for the cellar spaces of the two buildings and the nypdian vice confiscated the game equipment and counterfeit items. BFP published two FDNY assignments and two criminal assignments at 118 and 120 Elizabeth Street. ”
