How much do you appreciate silence? I am not trying to become deep here – it is a review of gadgets, not a self -assistance seminar – but it is a question that deserves to be asked. Personally, I find that calm is quite important. Nothing says he loves me as putting a pair of headphones and saying in the entire New York for good, f ** k off. And for this peace of mind, you have a lot of headphones at your disposal. Any pair that is worth its plastic weight will have the possibility of the ANC nowadays. But just because they all have it means that each pair of anc buds is created. On the contrary, my friends, there is levels to this shit.

If you are like bose and put “silent” on behalf of your headphones, you should expect a high degree of noise cancellation – even more for a Gen -2 product. And friends, I’m here to tell you (not quietly) that’s exactly what the $ 299 Bose Quietcomfort Ultra (2nd generation) bring to the table.

I tested these puppies in some of the worst conditions you can imagine (the New York chaotic metro), and I can say, without a doubt, if I want to block the maximum quantity of noise with headphones, they will be the ones I reach. Bose does not provide exact database numbers on the quantity of cancellation of its new headphones for calm and ultra silences, but the anecdote it seems a lot.

Bose Quietcomfort Ultra 2

The Ultra 2 headphones of the second generation of Bose still have an anc of class.

Pros

  • Ancient incredible
  • Cool design
  • Sensitive touch controls

Disadvantages

  • The sound is good but not breathtaking
  • Author of the intermediate battery
  • Heavy bose bonus

Noise cancellation

In the metro, I felt extremely isolated by the noise and the voices of the trains, which is incredible if you try to move on your journey to work or avoid unwanted conversations. I also tested them in a very frequented coffee with a lot of chatter and music, and they blocked all From this racket I started playing music.

Even when I did not play music, just seated with the headphones in my ears, it silenced most of the ambient noise. These are perhaps the only headphones I want during my next flight. Bose says that it returned to the laboratory and has adjusted its Activese technology, which allows an ancient adaptive of the Quietcolfort Ultra 2 to make transitions in the “smoother” noise levels.

Although I did not have the opportunity to use the ultra-1 of Quietcoft Ultra Gen-1, I can say that I did not find the second generation version to be agitated in their ANC adjustments when I had an adaptive ancient.

Transparency mode

If you really want to hear something, the Quietcolfort Ultra 2 also has excellent transparency. By typing and holding the side of the right earboard, you can go from “calm” mode to “conscious” mode, which deactivates the ANC and allows you to hear your environment.

I would not normally do that, for politeness, but I tested the transparency mode of the second generation of the second generation of Bose having conversations with them, including an exchange in a pharmacy. Even with my trendy ears, I did not miss a beat. I always hate that my ears are blocked when I talk to people, because I hear my voice pass in my own head (yuck), but if you need to have a conversation quickly and I don’t want to take out the buds, you can at least hear others easily.

Another strong point that you may notice during the switching between the modes is that touch controls outside the buds are very sensitive. It can be boring in some cases, as if you accidentally brush your bud while fixing your hair or removing a hat, but I actually think that it is an advantage.

I used a lot of disappointing touch controls at the time, and it was not among them. Personally, I prefer that touch controls are excessive only under. I would prefer to have some accidental errors than to draw aggressively on the buds to make them do what I want. The good news is that if you do not agree, you can now completely deactivate touch controls in the Bose application to completely avoid errors.

The sound

Regarding sound, Quietcomfort Ultra is holding up. It was difficult to switch between the Quietcomfort Ultra 2 and the EAH-AZ100 techniques that I tested at the same time, because they are some of the most constituted headphones that I have ever used, but I always think that these headphones will soothe most of the time. I listened to the same disc that I used to test the aforementioned technical buds (“3D country” of works), and although they did not have the same beach or dynamic clarity as the techniques, they followed the rhythm of the other “pro” headphones that I have used in the past, like the Google Buds Pro Pixel.

Mediums and summits were represented satisfactorily. I would say that they even manage to push the limits of the bass service, which was much lower, for lack of a better word, that I expected. If you do not like the ready to use setting, you can change things in the Bose application with a personalized and predefined EQ.

The design

One thing that can be a divisor among the general public is the gaze of the buds. They are coarse, I will not lie, but I like design, especially in the white color in which I had the buds, which reminds me of a mute Playstation 1.

Despite the size of the buds, I did not find the weight boring, and Bose did a good job by balancing the size and making them appear elegant, mixing the matt plastic of the case with a shiny and smooth plastic on the buds. There is a strip of smooth metal along the rod with a Bose brand. Like the SoundLink Plus, the most recent Bose Bluetooth speaker that I also tested recently, I find that the Quietcolfort Ultra 2 is an attractive mixture of minimalism and creativity.

The features

Regarding the features, these buds are stacked. If you want a 3D audio, you can pass the buds in “immersion” mode which follows the audio to your head movements, there is a tip adjustment test in the bose application, the personalized equation and an interesting feature in this generation is that you can now see the battery levels of the case in your application, so you know when you need to load it. I say once again, you have to stop sleeping on the companion application of your headphones – there are a lot to love.

Speaking of battery, Bose says that the Quietcomfort Ultra 2 obtains up to 6 hours of battery with ANC, but this figure falls (naturally) at 4 o’clock if you have activated immersive audio. This case contains 24 hours of juice, therefore about three full charges. This is not the best battery life in the world, but it is average.

The fact is that the bose quay is very well done, and it is to block the noise. In some cases, having a single large characteristic could be considered a defect, in particular for headphones that cost $ 299, but the ANC is one of the main reasons why people buy wireless headphones in the first place, so Bose seems to have concentrated its energy in the right direction.

Although these headphones do not give you the same level of hi-fi sounds as other headphones at similar prices on the market, they reward you in dividends when your neighbor organizes a noisy party, Again.
