The secret services asked to raise the level of the river for JD VANCE’s birthday trip

The security details of the American vice-president JD Vance had a water level of the Ohio river raised last week to welcome a kayak trip that he and his family took to celebrate his 41st anniversary on August 2.
The American secret services said they had asked for the increase in water flow from the Little Miami river, reported for the first time by the Guardian, to ensure that motorcycle and emergency staff “could operate safely” while protecting the Republican vice-president, whose home is in Cincinnati.
The body of American army engineers said that its Louisville district had temporarily increased the outings of Lake César Creek, in the southwest of Ohio, Little Miami “to support the safe navigation of American secret service staff”.
They said that the move met the operational criteria and had fallen into normal practice.
“It has been determined that operations would not negatively affect water or upstream water levels,” the body said in a statement. “The stakeholders downstream were informed before the slight increase in outings, which occurred on August 1.”

Vance spokesperson Taylor Van Kirk said the vice-president was not aware that the river had been raised.
“The secret services often employ protective measures without the knowledge of the vice-president or its staff, as was the case last,” she said by SMS.
Richard W. Painter, who was chief lawyer for the ethics of the White House, under President George W. Bush, said that “he is scandalous for the body of army engineers to spend taxpayers’ money to increase the flow of water in a river so that (the vice-president) can go to the canoe when the budget cuts towards the service of the National Park had an impact on the families.”
Eric Swalwell, a democratic member of the room, joked on X, “A Rising Tide Only raises the boat of JD Vance”.

The incident spoke of Al Gore, then a democratic vice-president as well as a presidential candidate, wrapping the Connecticut river for a photo opportunity in 1999.
This request also occurred after an examination of the region by the secret services – and Gore experienced a political decline. The Gore campaign said at the time that he had not asked for the release of water.
Vance was born and grew up in Ohio, and he spoke to CBC in 2016 of his American Rural Education, after the publication of his Memoirs Hillbilly ElegyAnd before he decides to enter the political arena.
During a recent trip to Italy, the Roman Colosseum was closed to the public so that the woman of Vance, USHA, and their children could have a tour, causing the anger of certain tourists. The Taj Mahal was also closed to visitors during the Vance family visit to India.
On Friday, Vance met the British Foreign Minister David Lammy before going on a family vacation in Cotswolds, a retirement in the English countryside.
