The regulators of Paris in the state of Illinois are faced with criticisms which vocal their opposition to the Paris tax proposal of 50 cents.

The opposition stems from criticism of the most recent publication of the Chicago Financial Future Task Force (CFFTF) on the financial future of Chicago, the largest city in the State.

Paris tax on Illinois not supported by all parties

The options for the Chicago financial report were published in the 3rd quarter of 2025, and at the door of one of the most important sports stages, the starting whistle of the NFL season.

The proposals of the document include a tax of 50 cents on any bet within the limits of the city of Chicago, with a planned turnover of $ 9 to 17 million on the Paris tax.

The Chicago Municipal Council had caused the CFTTF to move and supported the decision to add a tax to the costs paid to the largest approved state operators.

Sports Betting Alliance (SBA) posted its opposition to the plan to add “in addition to the tax by guardian of the State, which was promulgated on July 1 and implemented by most sports betting companies on September 1. If it is adopted, a 1 $ 1 bet placed in Chicago will be delivered with a 100% tax rate of $ 1. ”

In addition to the concerns about the increase in betting tax, the SBA fears that this decision encourages consumers more to seek illegal Paris options.

Illegal bets are endemic in Illinois say key figures

The Attorney General Kwame Raoul published a statement and wrote a letter to the American prosecutor Pam Bondi on the issue of illegal bets which are apparently “creeping” within the State.

“These operations (illegal game) also increase the tax burden of all taxpayers, because states are forced to compensate billions of lost game income. I urge the GM to prioritize the application against illegal offshore game operations, respect for the state of the law and the protection of states and our residents during the procedure, “said Raoul.

In a report published by the Better Business Bureau (BBB), underlined by the SGA, the organization warned consumers that illegal game is a growing threat in 2025.

“It can be difficult for consumers to differentiate between an accountant, a casino or a legitimate Paris company and those looking to deceive or steal the public,” said the BBB.
