The UK National Lottery to be temporarily closed for major technological updates

The national lottery in the United Kingdom will close this weekend to spend its greatest technological update for decades.

The sales of national lottery games and all price complaints will be temporarily interrupted in stores, on the website and in the application between 11 p.m. on Saturday August 2 and late in the morning on Monday August 4, while the Operator Allwyn sets up a technological behind -the -scenes.

The update will move the main lottery system to new platforms, although users should not expect to see a large part of the change at the front.

In training, after the lottery and Thunderball prints on Saturday evening, the national lottery website, the application and the retail lottery terminals will stop at 11 p.m., so that players cannot connect to their online accounts, buy print tickets or claim prices before Monday. Players can always buy scratch cards in person in any store in partnership, as well as see national lottery prints via YouTube.

What’s new for the national lottery?

Technological updates being largely behind the scenes, lottery players will probably not notice a difference in their experience. However, Allwyn said in a press release that new lottery terminals deployed in stores should speed up transactions for all players. In addition, there is a promise of “big changes” to come a short time after the technological update.

“This is a unique opportunity to deliver the national lottery that the United Kingdom deserves,” said Andria Vidler, CEO of Allwyn. “We make unprecedented and much necessary changes, which will bring us closer to the realization of our vision of the national lottery, the restoration of its magic and considerably increase its positive impact on lives through the United Kingdom.

“These major improvements will mean short -term disturbances for players and our retail partners, but they will allow us to keep our promise to provide new exciting games, a better player experience and our commitment to double the yields with good causes of 30 million pounds Sterling to 60 million pounds sterling by the end of the 10 -year license.”

The investment in the platform comes after Allwyn announced a 12% increase in income in 2024.
