TikTok is resuming service for its 170 million users in the US after President-elect Donald Trump said he would give the app back when he took office on Monday.
On Sunday the Chinese app stopped working for American users, following concerns that their data could be accessed by Chinese authorities.
In a statement, TikTok later said it was in the process of “restoring operations” a few hours after the blackout in America.
He thanked the president-elect for his “clarity and assurance” and said he would work with Trump “on a long-term solution that keeps TikTok in the United States”.
