Videos of young women dancing in colorful boubou dresses have exploded on social networks in West Africa. Nicknamed “Dior Parties”, the tendency of social media from Guinea now arouses controversy. What many consider as a joyful renewal of African identity and fraternity encountered a fierce reaction to conservative criticism and pushed Mali to place a ban on the scale of the country of celebrations.
