US President Donald Trump ordered Israel to stop bombing the Gaza Strip after Hamas said he had accepted certain elements of his plan to end the almost two years war and return all the remaining hostages taken in the attack on October 7, 2023.

Hamas said it was willing to release hostages and put power back to other Palestinians, but that other aspects of the plan require new consultations among the Palestinians. The senior Hamas officials suggested that there were still great disagreements that required new negotiations.

There was no immediate response from Israel, which is widely closed for the Jewish Sabbath, and Hamas’ response has not succeeded in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the group goes and disarms.

But Trump welcomed Hamas’ declaration, saying: “I think they are ready for lasting peace.”

“Israel must immediately stop the bombing of Gaza, so that we can take out the hostages safely and quickly! At the moment, it is far too dangerous to do so. We are already in discussion on the details to be developed,” he wrote on social networks.

Hamas said that the aspects of the proposal approaching the future of the Gaza Strip and Palestinian rights should be decided on the basis of a “unanimous Palestinian position” affected with other factions and based on international law.

The declaration also did not mention the disarmament of Hamas, a key Israeli request included in Trump’s proposal.

Trump’s plan would end the fights and make the hostages

Trump seems eager to deliver commitments to end the war and return dozens of hostages before the second anniversary of the attack on Tuesday. His peace plan was accepted by Israel and welcomed internationally.

The main mediators of Egypt and Qatar welcomed the latest developments, and Majed Al Ansari, spokesperson for the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that they would continue discussions on the plan. ”

A spokesperson for the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said that he “urged all the parties to seize the opportunity to end the tragic conflict in Gaza”. French President Emmanuel Macron wrote on social networks that “the release of all hostages and a cease-fire in Gaza are at hand!”

The sooner Trump warned that Hamas should accept the agreement on Sunday evening, threatening an even greater military attack.

“If this last chance agreement is not concluded, all hell, as no one has ever seen before, will stand out against Hamas,” wrote Trump on social networks on Friday. “There will be peace in the Middle East one way or the other.”

As part of the plan, which Trump unveiled earlier this week alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Hamas would immediately release the 48 remaining hostages – about 20 of them that would be alive. He would also abandon power and disarm it.

In return, Israel would stop his offensive and withdraw a large part of the territory, would release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners and authorize an influx of humanitarian aid and a possible reconstruction. The plans to move a large part of the Gaza population in other countries would be put aside.

The territory of some 2 million Palestinians would be placed under international governance, with Trump himself and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair supervising him. The plan does not provide any way for possible reunification with the West Bank occupied by Israeli in the future Palestinian state.

The Palestinians aspire at the end of the war, but many consider this and the previous American proposals strongly favoring Israel.

Hamas officials have air -objections in television interviews

Trump’s proposal “cannot be implemented without negotiations,” Mousa Abu Marzouk, a senior Hamas, told Gaza Mousa outside Gaza.

The Hamas press release said that he was willing to return all the remaining hostages according to the “formula” of the plan, probably referring to the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in exchange. He also reiterated his longtime opening to the delivery of power to a politically independent Palestinian body.

But Abu Marzouk said that it could be difficult for Hamas to release all hostages within 72 hours as dictates the proposal, as this could take days or weeks to locate the remains of certain captives.

He said that Hamas was willing to put its arms to a future Palestinian body which manages Gaza, but there was no mention in the official declaration.

Another head of Hamas, Osama Hamdan, told Al Arabby Television that Hamas would refuse foreign administration from the Gaza Strip and that the entry of foreign forces would be “unacceptable”.

The United States and Israel are looking to put Hamas pressure on

Israel has sought to increase the pressure on Hamas since the end of a previous ceasefire in March. He sealed the territory of food, drugs and other products for 2,1/2 months and seized, flattened and largely depopulated with supermarkets.

Experts determined that Gaza City had slipped into famine shortly before Israel launched a major offensive aimed at occupying it. It is estimated that 400,000 people have fled the city in recent weeks, but hundreds of thousands of others have stayed.

Olga Cherevko, spokesperson for the United Nations Humanitarian Bureau, said he saw several displaced families staying in the parking lot of Shifa hospital during a visit on Thursday.

“They are unable to move south because they just can’t afford it,” Chervko told the Associated Press. “One of the families had three children and the woman was pregnant with her fourth. And there were many other vulnerable cases, including the elderly and people with disabilities. ”

Most of the main leaders of Hamas in Gaza and thousands of his fighters have already been killed, but he still has an influence in areas not controlled by the Israeli army and launches sporadic attacks.

Hamas has long insisted that it would only release the remaining hostages – its only negotiation broadcast and its potential human shields – in exchange for a sustainable ceasefire and an Israeli withdrawal. Netanyahu rejected these conditions, saying that Hamas must go and disarm.

Second anniversary approaches

Thousands of activists led by Hamas stormed Israel on October 7, 2023, attacking army bases, agricultural communities and an outdoor music festival, killing some 1,200 people, mainly civilians. They have removed 251 others, most of them since released in ceasefires or other transactions.

Israel’s reprisal offensive killed more than 66,000 Palestinians, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health, which does not say how much civilians or combatants were. He says women and children represent about half of the dead.

The ministry is part of the government managed by Hamas, and the UN and many independent experts consider that its figures are the most reliable estimate of victims in wartime.

The offensive has moved around 90% of the Gaza population, often several times, and left a large part of the uninhabitable territory.

Biden and Trump administrations tried to end the fighting and bring back the hostages while providing in -depth military and diplomatic support to Israel.
