Turkey reprimands bets and illegal fraud in a new series of arrests

The Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared recent efforts to suppress illegal bets and aggravated fraud.

Yerlikaya went to Facebook to share an update on the current efforts of the Turkish authorities to suppress illegal bets and aggravated fraud. Recent operations of the police took place in five provinces.

43 suspects were apprehended with a volume of transactions shared with each other of a billion Turkish in their accounts. Of the 43, eight arrests were made, with the judicial control implemented on 29 others. In addition should move forward and are currently underway.

Yerlikaya said suspects are accused of facilitating illegal bets and money transfers via websites, fraud citizens by placing false electric bikes, mobile phone sales and investment advice on social media platforms.

These advertisements drew the attention of the prosecutor’s office, which encouraged the authorities to launch an investigation against the 43 people. The raid in person has seen the entry of many mobile phones, SIM cards, computers, bank cards and digital equipment considered linked to fraudulent activities.

“I congratulate our governors, the offices of our main prosecutors who coordinated operations, our Department to Combat Gendarmeries cybercrime, our provincial gendarmerie commanders who carried out operations, our gendarmerie and our employees of Masak,” wrote Yerlikaya on Facebook. “We continue to fight crime and criminals with determination through our virtual patrols in cyber homeland.”

Turkey is not the only one to face illegal bets

Turkey makes the repression of illegal bets and a priority, but it is not the only country faced with an increasing problem. Recent data suggest that a third of American bets are centered on illegal bets.

In the United Kingdom, Visa and Mastercard have both pointed out the risk of illegal play, while Brazil regulators pool resources to repress the growth of illicit activities.
