The capital of Ukraine, kyiv, underwent a mass night attack, announced early Thursday Thursday, with at least three dead, including a child, 12 injured and damage to buildings in several districts.

The city’s military administration left the number of deaths to three, with strikes recorded in districts largely separated from the city. Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko said two children were part of the injured.

The authorities provided a long list of buildings that had undergone damage, including several apartment buildings in height.

Photos published online have shown fire and smoke apartments that swing in buildings. Reuters could not immediately check the images.

Klitschko also said that several floors of a building had been damaged further east, and that a high crisis home was on fire on the other side of the river.

Total war since 2022

Russia launched its large -scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, leaving the two countries in a state of war since.

Russia illegally seized the Crimean Peninsula in Ukraine in March 2014, and it now occupies about a fifth of the country.

The sending of Canadian troops to Ukraine would face obstacles

Prime Minister Mark Carney’s suggestion that he does not exclude sending Canadian troops to Ukraine if a cease-fire agreement is concluded with potential obstacles, including Russia who does not want NATO members there as peacekeepers and the fact that the Canadian armed forces are already stretched.

Western leaders accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of dragging his feet in peace efforts and avoiding serious negotiations while Russian troops moved deeper in Ukraine.

US President Donald Trump bristled Putin on an American proposal for direct peace talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Trump said on Friday that he expects to decide on the next steps in two weeks if direct talks are not scheduled.

Ukraine has accepted American proposals for a summit with Putin and a ceasefire.

Russia has also fell on American and Western levels to establish post-war security guarantees for Ukraine, which fears another Russian invasion in the future, even if a peace agreement is now won.
