United Airlines passengers in the United States had to face delays after the airline temporarily stopped flights in the main airports on a “technology problem”.

A ground stopping has been published for the main flights of the company from departure airports, causing problems at airports such as Chicago, Denver, Houston, San Francisco and New Jersey.

The company said around 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday (02:00 GMT on Thursday) that thefts were no longer anchored, but that this disturbance was underway.

“The issue of underlying technology has been resolved and, although we expected residual delays, our team is working to restore our normal operations,” said the airline declaration.

More than 700 United Flights had been delayed at 9:00 p.m. Hae (02:00 BST), according to the Flightaware flight tracking site.

The flights that were already in the air during the ground stopping were able to continue their destinations.

Regional flights were not affected, but United warned that they could be delayed due to the traffic jams.

A passenger, Jessica Jeffers, told CNN that she was stuck for two hours on a plane in Denver while waiting to go to Newark, New Jersey.

“It was pretty tough here,” she said.

Other passengers complained about social networks to have been blocked on Tarmacs for hours while waiting for news.

The American partner of the BBC, CBS News, said that the airline was treating the incident as a avoidable delay, which means that it would cover certain expenses incurred by passengers.

Transport Secretary Sean Duffy said he was informed by United and that the problem was “not linked to the wider air traffic control system in the United States.
