Videos of emaciated hostages condemned such as calls from the Red Cross for access

Western leaders condemned emaciated Israeli hostage videos filmed by their captors in Gaza, the Red Cross calling for access to all in captivity.
Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom David Lammy said that “images of hostage-parades for propaganda are disgusting” and that they must be released “unconditionally”.
The calls arise after the Palestinian Islamic jihad published Roma Braslavski’s video, Thin and Crying on Thursday, and Hamas published images of an emaciated David Evyatar on Saturday.
Israeli leaders accused Hamas of Hunger for the hostages.
The armed wing of Hamas denied having intentionally hungry for prisoners, saying that hostages eat what their fighters and people eat in the midst of a hunger crisis in Gaza.
Braslavski, 21, and David, 24, were taken hostage from the Nova Music Festival on October 7, 2023 during the attack led by Hamas against southern Israel.
They are part of 49 hostages, out of 251 originally, which, according to Israel, always said to Gaza. This includes 27 hostages that would be dead.
After the release of the videos, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with the two hostage families, expressing “a deep shock” and telling them that the efforts to return all the hostages “will continue constantly and tirelessly”.
Netanyahu spoke at the head of the Red Cross in the region on Sunday, asking for its immediate involvement in the supply of hostages and medical care.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said that it was “dismayed” by the videos which gave “significant evidence of the potentially fatal conditions in which the hostages take place”.
The charitable organization reiterated its call to have access to hostages to assess their condition, offer them medical support and facilitate contacts with their families.
The Hamas Wing Al-Qassam armed brigades said it would respond positively to the Red Cross request to deliver food and drugs to prisoners if humanitarian corridors were open to Gaza on a regular and permanent basis, and air strikes interrupted during the aid period.
The Red Cross has faced strong criticism in Israel about its role in war, with affirmations that it did not help the hostages to stand in Gaza.
Earlier this year, in the midst of anger against the chaotic scenes while the hostages were released within the framework of an agreement between Israel and Hamas, the organization explained the limits of its role, claiming that it is based on the good will of the parties at war to operate in conflict zones.
There have also been criticisms from the Palestinians because the group has not been authorized to visit Palestinian prisoners detained in Israeli prisons since October 7, 2023.
The weekend in Tel Aviv, crowds of demonstrators and hostage families have come together again, calling on the Israeli government to obtain the release of hostages.
The families of David and Braslavski said during a rally on Saturday that “everyone had to get out of hell, now”.
In a video, Braslavski is seen crying when he says he has no more food and water and has only eaten three “falafel crumbs” that day. He says he is unable to stand or walk, and “is at the door of death”.
Braslavski’s family in a statement said “they managed to break the ROM” and pleaded for Israeli and American leaders to bring their son back home.
“He was simply forgotten there,” they said.

In the second video, David said “I haven’t eaten for days … I barely had drinking water” and we saw what he says will be his own grave.
His family said that he was “deliberately and cynically hungry in the Hamas tunnels in Gaza – a living, buried alive” skeleton.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said he was “dismayed” by images, adding that the release of all hostages was a mandatory prerequisite for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
French president Emmanuel Macron, who said that Hamas embodied an “abject cruelty”, added that France continues to work tirelessly towards the release of hostages, to restore a cease-fire and allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza.
He said that this effort must be accompanied by a political solution, with a solution to two states “with Israel and Palestine living side by peace”. France recently announced its intention to recognize a Palestinian state, as well as Canada and the United Kingdom, under certain conditions. Israel strongly condemned movements.
The images of the emaciated hostages come out like agencies supported by the UN said that the “worst scenario of the famine currently took place” in Gaza, with the deaths of malnutrition reported daily.
The Ministry of Health managed by Hamas said on Sunday that 175 people, including 93 children, died of malnutrition since the start of the war.
The UN, the aid agencies and some of the allies of Israel blame the hunger crisis on Israeli restrictions on the entry and delivery of humanitarian aid. Israel denies allegation and blame Hamas.
Despite overwhelming evidence, the Israeli authorities and part of the country’s press, strongly reject that there is famine in Gaza, and say that the crisis is a lie made by Hamas and distributed by the international media.
Some photos of emaciated children have been displayed by Israeli demonstrators calling for an agreement with Hamas, but many in Israel do not seem to know the extent of the emergency there.
While war continues, Israel faces increasing international insulation, while generalized destruction in Gaza and the suffering of Palestinians arouse indignation.
Surveys in the world suggest that public opinion is increasingly negative about Israel, which puts pressure on leaders to act.
