We finally have a new index on the next DC film by James Gunn

Superman is the great success of DC in years, therefore, of course, the steel man will once again fly towards the big screen. But in which film? Well, we now have our best index to date, even if it’s still a little troubled.

In recent weeks, the president and writer and editor of DC Studios SupermanJames Gunn, teased that he wrote a new DC film which presents Superman but is not a Superman following. Most spirits immediately jump to something like The best in the worldWho could team up a new Batman with Superman, but it is only speculation. Gunn has confirmed anything. Then, Thursday morning, Variety reported that the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, said during a call for results that Gunn will write and direct “the next episode of the super-family”.

It is an intriguing statement with various potential implications, but, before speculating, most fans know that the decision is to check the James Gunn Threads account. It was there that he likes to confirm, deny and clarify certain rumors, and, because of the publication, Gunn did it … in a way. In response to a fan asking him if he was indeed “to prepare the next episode in the super-family”, the Gunn always warned focused on this first part of the question, answering: “I am in fact and well in writing.” Which, once again, we knew.

To which Gunn was not opposed, however, was the expression “super-family”, and it is the big clue here. What exactly means? Well, for most of us, our minds jump to the film itself, where we saw Supergirl, played by Milly Alcock, appearing. She is the cousin of Superman, the owner of Krypto and the next DC hero with a film to come on the big screen. Two cousins and a dog are certainly considered a “super-family”. And if they were to team up, the adventure could take them practically anywhere in the DC universe. It would be exciting.

However, we must also look at the messenger. It was David Zaslav who said “super-family”, not a person with in-depth knowledge of comics. There is every chance in the world a CEO focused on the company which says that it simply means something like “the next in the family of Superman Films. “Or even the family of” Superhero Films. “It is a sentence that can be read as very specific or very vague, depending on the point of view.

Gunn, on his credit, suggested that we learn what he wrote and that I will then direct as soon as possible. And, if we were to bet on it, we think it probably presents Supergirl and Krypto alongside Superman. We do not yet know with certainty.
