Why ABC Canceled The Good Doctor After Season 7

As the old saying goes, all good things must come to an end. However, in the world of television, some goodbyes are strange. CBS canceled “Blue Bloods” in 2024 when he decided to update his programs, even the police program still received respectable votes on the Internet. Similarly, ABC pulled the plug on “The Good Doctor” after seven successful seasons, with the network apparently holding off on renegotiating key contracts.

According to DeadlineSony Pictures Television says it did not approach the show’s show and its star, Freddie Highmore, about extending their deal after it ended. The report says that the powers that be are thought to be making an eighth season, but in the end, they called it a day to set the medical drama. Highmore is said to be ready to return for another season, but it seems that ABC wanted to cut costs.

The good news is that “The Good Doctor” received a satisfying ending, unlike countless others the biggest shows out there that were canceled too soon. Although Highmore was ready to return for season eight, the actor is happy with how the show ended.

What Freddie Highmore did after he got rid of The Good Doctor

Freddie Highmore directed “The Good Doctor” as Dr. Shaun Murphy for seven years, so it’s understandable why he was so emotional after the show. When talking to Miscellaneousthe actor compared leaving the series to being like the end of high school, because it was a painful and exciting experience. In his own words:

“I think the feeling I’ve been feeling is like a graduation. You don’t regret it because you know that the last few years have been special with this group of people, and you know that you haven’t been. To repeat this another time, of course, it’s moving and emotional in that way, but at the same time, like after graduation, you enjoy doing other things and moving forward.

“The Good Doctor” is over for now, but fans of medical dramas have other shows to enjoy and look forward to. As of this writing, “Grey’s Anatomy” is still going strong, and Bill Lawrence’s long-awaited revival of “Scrubs”. it is moving forward legally. With this in mind, it is possible that “The Good Doctor” will be revived in the series, but in the meantime, the residents of St. Bonaventure will move on to other things.
