The manager of Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso, praised his team’s “serious performance” while Los Blancos collected three points which saw them the Rivaux de Vétisage de Barcelona in Laliga.

For at least 24 hours, Real sits at the top of the High Flight in Spain after a Vinicius Jr bags a splint and Kylian Mbappe marked late to make sure that the Alonso team emerged at ease 3-1 of their fight with Villarreal on Saturday.

Madrid sought to bounce back after a 5-2 battery in the hands of their city rivals in Atletico last weekend, and their hopes were made, although effectively than dazzling, in the Bernabeu.

After a first half, Vinicius scored within 90 seconds of the restart before doubled his counting of the penalty point 20 minutes later.

The visitors withdrew one by the record signature of Georges Mikautadze, but the push of the yellow submarine for a return was hampered when Santiago Mourino was sent for a second reservable offense.

Mbappe then made the points sure with 10 minutes of the game to play after a disinterested game from the replacement Brahim Diaz.

And it was a result that seemed to appeal to the real boss, who admitted that his players have perfectly executed their game plan.

“We feel really good,” said Alonso. “It was a really serious performance and an important victory.

“Our game plan tonight was the same as always. Dominate the game through possession, and when we lose the ball, press quickly and high and conquer it aggressively. I think we did a good job.”

Speaking about the performance of Vinicius, whose importance for reality may have been somewhat overshadowed by the recent form of Mbappe, Alonso called the “electric” Brazilian display.

The Madrid manager said: “I loved the Vini match tonight. Not just because of the goals. Because he was so active, so electric, he created many problems for the right back of Villarreal. He was so good.

“Vini is a really important player, really important for us, for his level of production, his creativity, the way he breaks down the defenses. And tonight was an incredible performance.”
