Yoda Predicted The Worst Part Of The Star Wars Sequels

Star Wars fans had a lot of hate for the Sequel Trilogy for many reasons, but none as bitter as the portrayal of Luke Skywalker. It was hard to see this Rebellion hero as a burnt-out monk, and it was even harder to see the revelation that Kylo Ren came from evil didn’t. actually from until Luke was tempted to kill his nephew. This seems out of character, but Yoda himself predicted the worst part of Star Wars when he warned Luke that “once you start the dark path, it will control your destiny forever.”

Luke, Yoda, and the Dark Path

Before he met Yoda (and before he started making Star Wars sequels), Luke Skywalker’s Jedi training was a weekend with Obi-Wan Kenobi. Fortunately, Kenobi who had subdued the Jedi Master gave Luke more lessons, including warning him about how taking even one step towards the Dark Side could ruin his future. However, we see Luke take several steps down a dark path, and many fans don’t realize that his desire to kill Kylo Ren is due to past mistakes.

Undoubtedly, Luke’s first step down the dark path was his failure in the cave of Dagobah The Kingdom is backwhen he took the weapon inside (choosing violence despite Yoda’s warning) and shot the phantom. Darth Vader who became Luke (a clear warning that he was in danger of becoming his father). Luke also abandoned his studies to help Han, Leia, and Chewbacca despite Yoda’s warning that doing so would “ruin everything they’ve fought and suffered for.”

And in Return of the JediEmperor Palpatine successfully misleads Luke into trying to kill him after saying “Hate grows within you now.” After Vader stops the massacre, Luke becomes angry with his father, writing clearly that he “realizes that he is using the Dark Side.

Luke doesn’t hear

So, what does this history lesson have to do with Yoda’s words and the most controversial thing in the Star Wars series? In short, Jedi Master he warned Luke that going down a dark path leads to a dark future, but this was not enough to stop Luke from doing so. A few years later (as we saw in The Last Jedi), in a moment of weakness, Luke is tempted to kill young Ben Solo because he believes, “Snoke had already turned his heart,” and Ben, “will bring destruction, and pain, and death, and the end of everything that I love for which he will live.”

Rey has to tell Luke, “You failed him by thinking his decision was made” and, echoing Luke’s thoughts about Vader earlier. Return of the Jedihe insists that “there is still conflict in him.” Indeed, there was good in Kylo Ren, and his redemption helped Rey defeat Emperor Palpatine in The Rise of Skywalker. The legendary Jedi Master Luke Skywalker apparently it was wrong in his assessment of Ben Solo, and the simple explanation for this is that Yoda was right: his fate in the Star Wars sequel was “controlled” by the past mistakes of the First Trilogy.

While Yoda’s dark prophecy may explain Luke’s controversial decisions, this explanation is unlikely to sway Star Wars fans who hate the Sequel Trilogy. No matter how well-intended the character change is, seeing a likable hero turn into a nihilistic threat is never fun. All in all, we can only hope for that Disney will do well in the future and that their first steps down the dark path of the Sequel Trilogy will not rule the future of this franchise.
