The last time the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was in the oval office, he endured one of the most humiliating diplomatic differences ever captured on the camera while he was chewed by his American counterpart and dressed so as not to dress.

Monday’s meeting between Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump was a considerable improvement compared to this last oval office course, that each foreign leader who has gone through this space since then, including Prime Minister Mark Carney, has desperately tried to avoid.

During a media event in pre-reunion with the two men seated in the same places where things were previously intended for rails, Trump played well.

The president’s message to the Ukrainian people? “We love them.”

Trump recognized the suffering of Ukraine after more than three years of Russian atrocities and invoked his wife’s pain and sorrow to see the children of the country be massacred by the Russian war machine.

“She likes children and she hates to see something like it is. She sees sorrow. We want to see something other than funeral,” said Trump about the First Lady, who wrote a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin during the weekend saying “it’s time” to end the conflict.

During her visit, Zelenskyy brought a letter from his own wife to Melania Trump to recognize her peace efforts.

Trump has also launched US security guarantees to protect Ukraine from other hostilities if a peace agreement materializes – a long -standing Ukrainian request that the Americans have rejected downright in the past.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he hoped for the meeting on Monday to the White House on Monday with several European leaders and that US President Donald Trump would lead to trilateral interviews with Russian president Vladamir Putin and a permanent end to Russian assault against Ukraine.

Trump said he was not so eager to participate in a meeting expected between Zelenskyy and Putin in the near future to discuss the terms of a peace agreement.

But the American president said he was ready to do it, if that’s what is necessary.

“If you want me both there, I will be there,” he said. Zelenskyy assured him that “Ukraine will be happy” to have it in such a meeting.

The Ukrainian war leader, who sometimes seemed obviously relieved while he was lounging in his very improved fortune seven months after the last disastrous demonstration, said that bilateral discussion “was really the best” they ever had. “Or maybe the best will be in the future.”

“We talked about very sensitive points,” said Zelenskyy after Monday’s oval office meeting, which said Trump on the protection of Ukraine of any other Russian foray would be a major breakthrough – if it met.

“We are very happy,” he said.

Zelenskyy is accompanied, offers its thanks

In February, Zelenskyy was attacked by vice-president JD Vance for having carried his ubiquitous military style outfit to meet his American benefactors.

This time, Trump said that the chief dressed in black suit looked “fabulous” and had approved his clothing choices. “I love it,” said Trump, admiring the Zelenskyy collar shirt while greeting him at the western wing gantry on arrival.

Trump stressed the conservative journalist who criticized the choice of previous outfit of Zelenskyy.

“He’s the one who attacked you the last time,” said Trump.

“I remember,” said Zeleneskyy, while excavating scribe to have supposedly wearing the same costume he had in February. “You see, I changed and you didn’t do it,” he joked.

It was not the only thing Zeleneskky can remember this shellacking.

Critical to suppose not to be sufficiently appreciated by American efforts to be part of the Ukrainian war effort – “You must be grateful, you do not have the cards,” said Trump by leaving him on live television – Zelenskyy said thanks all along.

“Thank you very much for the invitation,” he said.

Later, he said he was “grateful” for Americans providing advanced military technology to retain advanced Russians.

“Thank you very much for your efforts, your personal efforts, for arresting the murders and arresting this war. Thank you,” he said at another time.

Ukraine can obtain American protection guarantees

Most importantly, Trump, who did not make any secret that he gets tired of this long war, fell from some of his most pugilist remarks at the end of American support.

“You are concluding an agreement, either we have released,” A Aboya Trump in Zelenskyy, the last time they met in this space, suggesting that he was drawing resources if the conflict was dragging longer.

Trump says the ceasefire is not necessary to get peace in Ukraine

US President Donald Trump said on Monday before a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the main European leaders that he can negotiate the end of the war, which would first take a temporary break in the fighting.

Asked today if he ended us with an involvement if Zelenskyy reluctantly reluctantly discussed the terms with Putin last week in Alaska, Trump said: “It’s never the end of the road.”

“People are killed and we want to stop this. I wouldn’t say it’s the end of the road. No, I think we have a good chance of doing so,” said Trump about obtaining a peace agreement.

Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff said the United States and its European partners could offer “type 5 protection” to Ukraine, a reference to the NATO collective defense mandate.

“We are going to help them,” said Trump.

Trump excludes Ukraine joining NATO, resuming Crimea

However, Trump has not changed his air on everything.

In an article on social networks before the meeting, Trump categorically excluded that Ukraine joined NATO on its watch.

The president also said that Ukraine should give up resuming Crimea, a Ukrainian territory which was annexed by Russia in 2014.

These are two major concessions that will appeal to Putin, who insists that Trump is open to an agreement to end the conflict.

Zelenskyy may also have to give up other territories to conclude this agreement with the Russian president, who has his eyes cut on donbas in eastern Ukraine.

Part of this region, which includes many Aboriginal Russian speakers, is occupied by the forces of Putin and governed by its proxies – but not everything.

Giving too many land in this crucial industrial area would be devastating for the future of the country, said Inna Sovsun, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament.

“This is the worst case which, I think that everyone is very concerned. I hope it will not happen,” she said in an interview.

But it’s for another day.

Avoiding another oval force test of the office was a promising first step. The finest details of a potential peace agreement are what could do everything to derail the next time these two leaders will meet.
