A zoo in Denmark made an unusual request: if you want, send us your pets so that we can keep our beautiful population of well-fed predators. As you would expect, there was a little public outcry on the

“Chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs form an important part of the diet of our predators,” said the zoo, in an article on Facebook, noting that these animals “recall what” predators “would naturally hunt in nature”. He added: “In zoos, we are responsible for imitating the natural food chain of the animal – for animal welfare and professional integrity.”

“If you have a healthy animal that should leave here for various reasons, do not hesitate to make us give it,” he added. “We ensure the natural behavior, nutrition and well-being of our predators.”

If potential donors are concerned about the fact that their loved ones put themselves in a violent end, the zoo has slight words of comfort: “The animals are slightly killed by the staff trained and are then used as food. Oh well.

The zoo had previously launched a appeal similar to the public, asking that horses (another category of animals in particular) be given to the zoo so that they can be euthanized and fed on the predatory population of the establishment.

Online indignation was, of course, fast and ruthless. The post FB comments section is alive with alarmed web users. “A deeply perverse and degrading state of mind,” said a user (translated from the Danish). “How sick are you looking at something like that,” asked another. “It’s a good joke, no one would bring their pet healthy animals to a zoo so that they can kill him and feed him with his animals”, another person has ventured.

The zoo was predictably forced to treat indignation. “After a great international interest, we have chosen to close the comment track on this research,” said the establishment hilarious, in a change in the position. “We understand that the call arouses emotion and interest, but hateful and vicious rhetoric is not necessary – and we ask to maintain the good tone. We amaze and answer questions in the reception box or by mail. ”

Gizmodo has contacted the Aalborg zoo for more information on this unusual policy and will update our history if they react.

People who work in a particular industry may forget what “standards” are like outside. If you get used to a cute and soft rabbit evisced by a giant mouth every day, it can become tempting to suppose that everyone is used to such a view. At the very least, Aalborg’s FB position is clear that the people of the zoo are not necessarily pets. If they had been, they would have realized that there is little in this world that they could have said that it would have disrupted the targeted audience. They could just as easily have encouraged visitors to give their own human children as a tiger app.
