UK EV startup Charge Cars has been acquired by a group of private sellers. The company will continue to develop the ’67, which is an all-electric model .
The company’s CEO Paul Abercrombie said the acquisition will allow “the final development of our new global HQ” in the UK and that the company will “quickly deliver this great car to consumers.” He also said that more is coming.
The ’67 was hand-built, with a body licensed by Ford. It will also include floor-mounted, traction-efficient batteries, with quad-motor technology delivering 400kW of maximum power and 1,520 Nm of torque. The company promises “the highest standards of safety and handling of vehicles.”
The car boasts a “new digital imaging system,” which is the first time I’ve read the word “bespoke” in reference to the visuals. The infotainment system will offer Apple and Android compatibility.
Charge Cars started the project in 2016, but faced several challenges along the way. The company has been cooperating with the EV company Arrival, sharing the founder Denis Sverdlov with other technologies. Arrival is forming an agreement with UPS that in the US and throughout Europe.
