Jasprit Bumrah prepared for the necessary scans for the ODI match against England


Jasprit Bumrah’s inclusion in the Indian team for the upcoming matches against England and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has created excitement among the fans, but doubts remain over his participation in the upcoming ODIs, especially the multi-nation tournament.

The chairman of the men’s selection committee, Ajit Agarkar, has already confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah will miss the first two ODIs against England at home, and his fitness has been closely monitored by experts. He also made it clear that there is no guarantee of his availability.

On Saturday, January 18, India announced the ODI squads for the upcoming ODI and ICC Champions Trophy 2025 series, and Jasprit Bumrah was selected in both squads, based on fitness.

However, Harshit Rana has been named as Bumrah’s cover for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, but the national selectors have not named a backup for the Champions Trophy 2025.

India’s chief selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Rohit Sharma are both unsure whether Bumrah will regain enough strength for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. At the press conference, Ajit Agarkar said, “We hope that Bumrah will be fine. We will have a chat. If he is not fit.” While Rohit Sharma said, “We don’t know about Bumrah, whether he will play or not.”

Meanwhile, a Times of India report said that Jasprit Bumrah is scheduled for a medical check-up on February 2, which will determine what he will do in his rehabilitation journey and his availability for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.

It is reported that the Prime Minister of India has been advised to take a five-week layoff, and his condition will be reassessed before a definitive decision is made on his return. With Bumrah’s form making a huge difference in India, the selectors are hoping for good news.

Now, the Indian cricket team is waiting for Bumrah’s clarity, with the biggest change expected on February 9 for the second ODI against England. The timing is crucial, as the team management must finalize any changes to their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 squad by 13 February.

Incidentally, Bumrah suffered a back injury in the fifth and final Test against Australia in Sydney. He was leading the side in the absence of Rohit Sharma, but was eventually dropped from bowling in the second innings due to a back injury, due to heavy duty on tour.

However, India lost the match by 6 wickets and Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 to Australia 3-1, but Bumrah lost with the ball in the tour, he ended up being the leading scorer with 32 scalps in nine innings. He was awarded the Player of the Series award for his amazing bowling display in Australia.
