Former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu has questioned the exclusion of Mohammed Siraj from India’s 15-man squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Indian pacer was surprisingly left out in favor of left-arm spinner Arshdeep Singh in the main event.

However, Navjot Singh Sidhu admitted that the selectors had picked a strong team, but was disappointed with their decision to ignore Mohammed Siraj. Sidhu confirmed that he would have picked four seamers and three spinners to lead the CT 2025 squad.

Navjot Singh Sidhu was quoted by Sports Tak, “Going with the Indian team in the Champions Trophy, it seems like the selectors have given attention to all rounders. Sidhu also explained why he believes that Mohammed Siraj should be included in the Indian team for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. He also said that India has selected four spinners for the T20 World Cup 2024, but Yuzvendra Chahal did not get a game, and that’s it. missed an opportunity to have a suitable actor for the Caribbean culture.

The former Indian cricketer believes that spinners don’t do as well in Dubai as they do in other places, so it would have been a good call to have an extra seamer like Siraj in the prestigious tournament. However, he still feels that India has a good squad and is worthy of the Champions Trophy.

Notably, Arshdeep Singh has so far played only 8 ODIs, while Mohammed Siraj has 71 wickets in just 44 ODIs, and has been one of India’s best pacers in recent years. He played a key role in India’s Asia Cup triumph in 2023, with a superb performance of 6/21 in the final against Sri Lanka.

Siraj then helped India reach the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup at home, where he took 14 wickets.
