The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has imposed travel restrictions on players in Kolkata, following strict guidelines from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Notably, CAB president Snehasish Ganguly confirmed that no special arrangements have been made for individual players to travel.
The organization has established strict procedures for players who follow their list in Australia. They cut down on family time on outings and curtail personal shoots during the series. India are expected to host England in a series of five T20Is and three ODIs, starting with the first T20I at Eden Gardens on January 22.
BCCI Releases 10-Point Diktat to State Associations Ahead of England Series
The Indian cricket board has set a 10-point charter for the Indian men’s cricket team, PTI reports. This document has been shared by the government organizations that are hosting the upcoming India-England white ball series.
Among the guidelines is the rule that all players travel together on the team bus, without a separate route for each individual. The organization says that these measures aim to encourage commitment and strong work.
Cricket Association of Bengal Not Planned for Separate Tours of Players – Snehasish Ganguly
Snehasish Ganguly confirmed that the Cricket Association of Bengal has followed BCCI’s 10 principles for the Indian cricket team. Speaking to PTI, he said that no special travel arrangements were made by any of the players during the team’s training session at Eden Gardens.
“As per the BCCI’s 10-point guidelines for players, the Cricket Association of Bengal has not prepared a separate referral system (for each player),” Ganguly told PTI. “Only the team bus has been arranged for the Indian team, there will be no vehicles of any kind for the players.
“We must follow the instructions that clearly state that all players must travel with the team when going to and from games and training.
Team India, led by Suryakumar Yadav in the T20I series, will travel to Chennai for the second match. All the preparations of the team are being conducted according to the revised BCCI guidelines, which will be used in the India-England series.
Players Ordered To Participate In Domestic Cricket While Not On International Duty
The BCCI has introduced new rules for players to travel with the team for practice and matches in order to promote team unity, discipline, and professional culture. Players are now mandated to participate in domestic cricket when they are not on national duty.
Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, and Rohit Sharma have confirmed their participation in the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2024-25. However, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul will miss out due to injuries.
BCCI chief Ajit Agarkar explained that the rules are not meant as a punishment but as a system aimed at promoting unity and development across all levels of cricket.
